A Swedish passport for the Billy Bookcase, the most popular item of IKEA ever. Designed by Gillis Lundgren in 1979, found in most European households. Traveling around the world and now owning a passport of its own.
I think a passport is the one and only piece of print that everyone actually owns. They come in a pretty similar size & design, yet have their distinctive details depending on the country (main language, watermarks, layout, etc.) I thought about what else apart from people or pets could own a passport. An idea came to my mind - IKEA, one of the most known brands ever, owning their stores all across the globe, would be a perfect fit. Their most sold item, the Billy Bookcase, made me think about how an object so universal and owned by everyone traveled all these countries without having a passport. Why doesn't it deserve one? It does. So I made it.
The passport includes original information about the Billy Bookcase - name, origins, measurements, serial number, etc. It is all made using a real Swedish (homeland of IKEA) passport's layout by researching various images. All the information is very real and can be found on IKEA's website.
